First…you have to remember…this is an Al Pacino movie…and to watch a movie with Al Pacino in it, you must love Al Pacino….he is an all consuming presence in all of his movies.  I do like Al Pacino. The plot might border on the ridiculous …although it was acceptable…nothing mind shattering…it is titled 88 minutes and last considerably longer…it has all the attributes of a good movie…drama…suspense … action…they were all there…just sort of disconnected.

I truly can’t tell you where they went wrong with this flick…remember…I am just an average person stating an opinion, not a critic.  Not my favorite Al Pacino movie…although, I will probably go and see
the next movie he puts out with the same enthusiasm…just because it is Al.

I went with a group of people…we all had different opinions of this movie but the one thing we all agreed on was that it is a definite rental.

August Rush is now available on DVD!  A Fantastic movie with a talented
cast that also proves to be a wonderful display of how music touches us
all…if we take the time to listen.  The storyline is loosely borrowed
from Oliver Twist made special by a dynamic trio of strong performances,
magical imagery and nonstop music.
An excellent movie for all ages.  Be prepared to laugh, cry, and be
swept away by the magic of music.

Personally, I thought it was enjoyable…escapism.  Not a history lesson.  I didn’t go to the theater to get an education…but to sit back and let a good storyline coupled with my own imagination take me away…and this movie gave me what I expected.
The visuals were great…and I am a sap for a love story.

Remember…this is fantasy…not fact…if you do…you might like this one…I did.

This had the feel of a good action movie…similar to Mission Impossible…but after seeing the same scene played over and over…eight times…even though it was through different perceptions…you want to scream!

The concept seemed interesting but the movie fell short with all the repetition.

Not my cup of tea!  Rental…maybe.

Definitely, Maybe

First of all…yes this is a chick-flick, it is entertaining and worth watching for no other reason than Ryan Reynolds…what a doll.  He knows how to keep the laughs coming.  At times it can be a little slow (could’ve been shorter)… a little unbelievable…and the ending was predictable…but all in all it’s a good feel-good movie and worth the price of your ticket.

Heartwarming and funny.

I went to this movie expecting little more than a Lifetime made for TV movie…wow, was I surprised! I totally disagree with the critics on this one…but, then again…I usually disagree with the critics! If you have ever loved and lost…not just in death…but, loved and lost the person you consider your soul-mate…you should be able to relate to this wonderfully entertaining movie. My 16 year old daughter and I laughed…cried…and got totally caught up in the story. Great characters that you come to love. Worth the cost of admission.

This is a dark drama that somehow still manages to keep you riveted in spite of its slow-pacing.  The main character dies in the beginning but you follow her story throughout the movie through a narration of her diary.  I’m not a fan of Viggo Mortensen but he does a more than passable job of carrying off his role as an under-cover FSB agent trying to infiltrate the Russian mafiya in London.  The secondary plot follows Nikolai’s (Viggo) relationship with Anna (Naomi Watts) who midwifes the baby of the young woman who dies while held in captivity as a sex-slave by a russian crime family.

There are at least four plot threads running through this movie and maybe more.  There is the tragic story of the deceased mother whose diary is being read throughout the movie…the growing but strange relationship between Nikolai and Anna…the familiar story of the son (Vincent Cassel) of the crime boss who fails to live up to his father’s expectations and the transient but substantial story of Anna’s uncle who is a russian immigrant who tries to warn Anna away from her involvement with the criminals but gets entangled himself.  But rather than being confusing, the pacing makes it easy to keep up with.   

This movie will leave  you thoughtful and wishing they had finished the various story threads they had started but you won’t feel like you wasted your time. 

Juno is the story of a young girl who finds herself pregnant. A night with a highschool lover turned wrong, Juno realies that she has got herself into situations beyond her years.  The movie follows the everyday life of a young girl who tries to find the perfect parents for her unborn baby. After finding parents for her baby, Juno is faced with situations that are better faced by people with more life experience.

This is a movie that deals with very delicate material using sarcasm wit and light hearted humor. Since teen pregnancy is on the rise and this movie is re-enacted in schools across America, I recommend this movie to those who can see past the smart mouthed remarks and absorb the actual purpose behind this movie…to bring awareness to kids and parents alike… The fact is “accidents happen”. I had a few laughs and giggles along with a deep sympathy for the character Juno and her struggles.

You should not miss this movie!

Atonement starts promisingly and then dramatically declines.  I felt the acting was fine…the location and cinematography were interesting…the story was imaginative and somewhat believable…but, I am just not into artsy period pieces. The flashbacks and flash-sideways coupled with the slow pace of the movie just didn’t hold my interest.  I was hoping for a little more action and this movie just crept by at a snails pace.

Critics give this one rave reviews and I have heard Oscar rumors…but, as far as I am concerned…It is a rainy day rental at best.

I just loved this movie…a non-stop action movie that does what most movies are incapable of…makes you care about the characters. You learn just enough about the characters so as not to get burdened with details…you either love them or hate them….this cast along with the director just work! You truly can’t go wrong with Washington…he is a remarkable actor….throw in Crow on top of that and you have the perfect cast for this based on life action packed thriller. I highly recommend…your dollar won’t be wasted on this one.
